Interactions with the Conventions

For the Millennium Assessment, the group of international environmental Conventions represents an important audience for assessment findings. For the Conventions, the MA is viewed as an important source of information about the state of ecosystems and the services provided by ecosystems, as well as tools and methodologies that can be used to help promote the sustainable use of ecosystems for human well-being. Such information has been formally requested from the MA through official decisions taken by the member country Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD), the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar), and most recently, the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS).
