Wetlands, Migratory Species Conventions Strengthen International Support of MA

As with the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment was further integrated to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and invited to contribute to the work of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species. Official decisions taken at each of these three Convention Conferences of Parties, recognize the MA as a source of critical information and invite the MA to interact closely with their scientific and technical bodies. Similar decisions might be expected from the September 2003 Conference of Parties for the Convention to Combat Desertification, which is the other key international convention the MA serves.
